The Company was originally established in 1995 as Al Nasr Securities Brokerage and is now one of the leading brokerage companies in Egypt with 14 branches, operating in the top quartile relative to its peers for the last three years.
Prior to Watheeqa’s strategic acquisition of Tadawel in 2005, the Company was a small brokerage house in Cairo operating far below its potential. As such, Watheeqa sought to restructure by instituting corporate governance guidelines including a new organizational structure and reporting and monitoring mechanism.
To this effect, the Company witnessed substantial trade volume and bottom line growth by offering a range of additional products and services including on-line trading and modern IT platforms.
As of December 31, 2007 Watheeqa’s equity stake amounted to 75% and the Company’s total assets were approximately USD 12.44 million.
