At Watheeqa, research reports are just a means of expressing ourselves while our core purpose and end is to identify profitable investment opportunities and ideas that will enhance the returns of all stakeholders over a sustained and long period of time.
Our vision is to build an intensely process driven team and widen our competitive advantage that includes a trusted brand, uncompromising integrity, an owner-investor mentality, unconventional ways of communicating and presenting an idea, and a highly knowledgeable, motivated and deeply committed analyst staff.
We will stay focused and obsessed with the quality and depth of our research rather than quantity. However, we will remain committed to identify the right kind of opportunities and most profitable investments – all the time.
Accordingly, this means, unlike traditional and compulsive sell-side research, in the absence of compelling opportunities, we may not come up with an investment idea on a daily basis or for that matter even on a weekly or monthly basis – just for the sake of it. While this may be uncommon; but that’s just perfectly fine with us.
In the meanwhile, if we do find some compelling ideas in quick; we will not hesitate to do so either. Frequency is not our intent; merit of the investment idea is. Period.
We will fully remain conscious and recognize that we are first investors-at heart and then advisors. We will stay away from recommendations and advise just for sake of publishing and releasing some “report” at some pre-determined and periodic intervals. Simply put, we don’t want to publish some research that merely makes “noise” and ignores the risks.
Having said this; to us – risk means permanent loss of capital; not volatility. Accordingly, we will first seek to thoroughly assess the downside risk of a potential investment and recommend only when an adequate margin of safety exists.
We will conduct our research that adopts a hands-on approach and seek to thoroughly understand the companies that we identify for potential investments. Moreover, we will approach every recommended investment idea as if we were buying the entire company for ourselves. We will have the mindset of owner-investors.
We desire our research to be known and stand-out for its simplicity, commonsense analysis, brevity and powerful presentation. Most importantly, we want our clients to look forward to our views and opinion – all the time. We don’t want our research to be boring, monotonous and routine publications that would imitate the rest. We will strive to innovate.
We will structure our research process that is very demanding and full of rigor; yet an activity that’s filled with fun and learning. This we intend to do by spending a lot of time reading, analyzing, thinking and debating. In the process, put only the best and original analysis and thesis in our research publications.
Apart from these, at every given opportunity, we will also educate our clients which will make them better and informed investors. This we will do by sharing knowledge through thought provoking articles and investment literature that we come across through our reading.
